Music Vs Quran and Nasheeds

As far as the matter of music is concerned, it has no place in islam. The only musical instrument allowed is the duff or tambourine. And the only songs that one can sing are the songs that do not have any exaggeration or falsehood in them.

Before discussing the matter further, we should take help from the Quran and hadith.

Al-Quran 17:064
"And Istafziz (literally means: befool them gradually) those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allahs disobedience), make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, etc., or by committing illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.”

Al-Quran 31:006
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e.music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).”

The above mentioned verses talk about how satan and his follower use the music to misguide people from the truth path. This is very true. Today we see how every week a new number hits the top charts and with every passing day, the songs are containing vulgar language and even the Arabic words and “ALLAH” in them. This is the height of kufr going on in the world.

But this is not the topic, the topic is the use of music in Quran and nasheed. Quran is the most blessed and purest word. To add anything with Quran will be a disrespect to the divine words so there cannot be even imagined the use of music with quran and we have just seen how music is used to mislead the masses. Now a day, a trend has been set to compose beautiful nasheeds that contain music in them. There are mixed opinions of scholars on this issue. Some make it permissible while some do not. those who make it permissible use the following hadith.

Bukhari Volume 5, Book 58, Number 268:
Narrated Aisha:  That once Abu Bakr came to her on the day of 'Id-ul-Fitr or 'Id ul Adha while the Prophet was with her and there were two girl singers with her, singing songs of the Ansar about the day of Buath. Abu Bakr said twice. "Musical instrument of Satan!" But the Prophet said, "Leave them Abu Bakr, for every nation has an 'Id (i.e. festival) and this day is our 'Id."

There are two more ahadith that talk about singing.

Muslim Book 030, Number 5743:
Anas reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had in one of his journeys his black slave who was called Anjasha along with him. He goaded by singing the songs of camel-driver. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Anjasha, drive slowly as you are driving (the mounts who are carrying) glass vessels

And

BUKHARI, Volume 9, Book 83, Number 29:

Narrated Salama:

We went out with the Prophet to Khaibar. A man (from the companions) said, "O 'Amir! Let us hear some of your Huda (camel-driving songs.)" So he sang some of them (i.e. a lyric in harmony with the camels walk). The Prophet said, "Who is the driver (of these camels)?" They said, "Amir." The Prophet said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him !" The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Would that you let us enjoy his company longer!" Then 'Amir was killed the following morning. The people said, "The good deeds of 'Amir are lost as he has killed himself." I returned at the time while they were talking about that. I went to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Prophet! Let my father be sacrificed for you! The people claim that 'Amir's good deeds are lost." The Prophet said, "Whoever says so is a liar, for 'Amir will have a double reward as he exerted himself to obey Allah and fought in Allah's Cause. No other way of killing would have granted him greater reward."
From the above quoted ahadith, we can visibly see that the songs sung by the two camel riders did not have any objectionable matter in them. If the songs were any wrong our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.w would have never let the men sung them.

Similarly the two girls who were singing were not singing any objectionable matter that could be wrong.
Second this is the use of music, since the only musical instrument allowed in islam is tambourine, so no other instrument should be added into the nasheeds as well. Also like we see many asian naat khawan singing “disco naat” by giving weird vocalizations is also wrong since they sing “ALLAH” which weird vocalization, which makes the naat look rather funny than a piece of praise to Muhammad s.a.w.w. so there is no concept of Music in islam neither should once try to add unnecessary weird vocalizations to replace music.
