The Love of Allah

Love is a universal truth. It is there since always. Every religion and every region has its own definition of love. Even though, love has been degraded to the extent that it is only limited between two people, but still love exists in all forms for every one.

Whatever the definition of love is out there, the love for Allah swt is the best of all. No human being can love any one as much as he loves his children and his parents. And love of Allah is more than these, anything and everything. In fact, we are told ot love others for the sake of Allah and hate others for the sake of Allah. In short, islam is all about loving Allah swt and striving to atain His love. People often wonder how can they attain love of Allah swt. The answer is, its not that difficult. In fact, it is not difficult at all. Allah swt say in Quran;
[003:031]  Say, “If you love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you! And He will forgive your sins. Allah is the most Forgiving, and the most Merciful!”
This verse tells us that from our side all we need to do is follow what we have been told. And we have been told and given the system of command and system of worship through prophet Muhammad pbuh. Allah swt tell us that if we love Him, then we need to follow and obey Muhammad pbuh, the last and final messenger of Allah. And with that, Allah swt tell us that this is the act which will earn us the love of Allah swt and not only love but He will forgive our sins. Let us understand this by our worldly relations. When a child does something wrong, he is reprimanded by his parents.

This does not mean the love is ended between them, it is just that parents want to know that their child will never do the same again. And the child needs surety that his parents will not loving him. As soon as the child says sorry, the things go back to normal. Same is the case but with more intensity. Allah swt loves us as much ( or probably more than) as seventy mothers. Love of one mother is so intense and so much that there is no measure created for it. Then imagine the love of Allah swt for us. It is beyond count. When Allah swt loves us so much, then it is our duty to love Him back. To show Him that we love Him. And the best way to show someone that you love him is to listen to him and show him respect. Prophet Muhammad pbuh said in the following hadith;

Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 509:

Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him."
Thus, in order to get the love of Allah swt, one needs to show his gratitude, his love and his care for Allah swt. What else than worship can be the best way to do that. Remember, the believer's intention matters. Even if he thinks to do a good deed, that deed is recorded. So, always think good, and act good. In this way you can attain Allah's love and His favor and mercy upon you.
